The Purple Spotted Swallowtail (Graphium weiskei) is a striking swallowtail butterfly native exclusively to the highland forests of Papua New Guinea. This rare species inhabits elevations between 4,500 and 8,000 feet and is admired for its dramatic contrast of black wings accented with green, purple, and soft pink markings.

This handcrafted paper butterfly sculpture is artistically modeled after the real Graphium weiskei, capturing both the dorsal (top) and ventral (underside) wing patterns. Each specimen is carefully hand cut, shaped, and assembled using durable specialty art paper and water-based inks, then sealed to preserve color and detail while maintaining a natural appearance.

Each paper butterfly is mounted in a crystal-clear 7" x 7" x 1" display box and includes a printed label on the reverse featuring the scientific name and geographic origin. The sculptural form allows for display in a shadow box, mounted on a wall, used in floral arrangements, or incorporated into artistic installations.

Because each piece is handcrafted, subtle variations in color, size, and wing formation may occur—reflecting the individuality found in nature itself. Wingspans vary by species and are created as close to true scale as possible.

This collectible paper butterfly is a tribute to biodiversity, conservation, and the enduring beauty of species found only in the wild.
