Papilio lorquinianus also called Sea Green Swallowtail is a great butterfly from Australasia / Indomalaya ecozone (Australia). The first description was in 1865 by C. & R. Felder. With a wingspan of 9.0 – 11.0 cm Papilio pericles is a medium member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The butterfly is black with iridescence turquoise and green areas. Hind wings have tails. The forewings are black. Nearby the body there is a big iridescence turquoise and green area, which contain one little black spot. The pinion is powdered by green scales. In back there is an area of special scales like a pelt. This pelt is typically for the male, because the flavours of this pelt should allure the female.
