Parides ascanius (Fulminense Swallowtail)
 
Parides ascanius, also called Fulminense Swallowtail is a butterfly from Neotropic ecozone (South America). The first description was in 1775 by Cramer. The wingspan is about 8 – 10 cm. Parides ascanius is a member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The basic colour of this butterfly is darkbrown or black. White bands and red spots dominate the wings. The hind wings have tails.
